Lyle's 2021 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55405 (612) 870-8183 http://lylesliquor.com I chose Lyle's, for our just before Christmas burger night, because of their red booths and indeed it did feel very spirited with the booths and all the decorations. It's just a great burger joint with the cool hole in the wall feel. Bergegories (Berger Points) All Bergegories are ranked 1 - 5; 5 is the Berger Best! Berger's Burger: 2.5 I couldn't taste the burger. It looked great, just the way I like it, but no taste. Fries: 5 The rest of the gang gave kudos the option of tater tots. Atmosphere: 5 Condiments: 5 Beverages: 5 They had a really cool 'mystery bottle beer' for just $2. Service: 5 She was cool and sweet and very helpful! Friends: This Bergegory is a standing 5 for upstanding friends! Weighted Score: 4.166

Tavern on France 6740 France Ave S Edina, MN 55435 952-358-6100 www.thetaverngrill.com A bit more upscale than my favorite hole in the wall burger joints, but the atmosphere had great energy. The place was packed, but it didn't take long to get a table and we could hold a conversation. Bergegories (Berger Ponts) All Bergegories are ranked 1-5; 5 is the Berger Best! -Berger's burger: 3. Build it just the way you like. The beef is high quality. I deducted 2 points for lack of flavor - gotta have some juicy flavor. -Fries: 5. Waffle fries were really good and they gave me a side of mayo. -Atmosphere: 5. Like I said I prefer a hole in wall joint, but can't knock 'em for being a classy place. -Condiments: 5. They had it all and then some. -Beverages: 5. Good beer selection, full bar. -Service: 3. Good, but I deducted 2 points for the eye roll we got when we weren't ready with our order the first time our server checked. -Friends: 5. This Bergegory is a standing 5 for outstanding friends. Total Score (avg/weighted) 3.888. The burger is everything!

Tavern on France (10/4/12)

We're back. Yes this is "I really don't know who I am". Tonight was a great burger night at Tavern on France. Yes, sounds rather swank. Edina with a burger spot!!! It's not your parent's Edina any longer. A loud bar area (where we sat to be as close to the TV showing the MN Lynx beat up on the LA Sparks) was the perfect setting to 'build your own burger'.

4 burger blogger in attendance and only one of us consumed our neighbors most favorite food - cheese. Also, it was the first time I've ever had green olives on my burger - it was quite good!

Overall the burger was quite good, waffle fries tasty and beer, well how can the beer be bad - come on...Oh yah, the service was very good. Worth the trip (all the way to Edina).

And, yes once again the best part of the evening was sharing it with our fellow burger bloggers. No burger night is quite the same with friends.

Cuzzy's Grill & Bar 507 Washington Ave North, Minneapolis, MN www.cuzzys.com 612-339-6211 We walked into Cuzzy's; it was narrow and dark - the perfect setting for a great burger and beer. It was a wonderful summer evening so we walked through Cuzzy's, between the bar and the booths, to the outside patio where we found an open picnic table. Our server was was feisty and fun although lacked on attentiveness. When I asked for a full bodied beer that wasn't hoppy I got an open eyed look. My hubby translated the look and said, "Not here dear, do you want a Bud or a Coors Light? Cuzzy's does have a great selection of beer just know what you want! All was perfect and then we tried the burgers; 1/2 pound burger with no flavor. Show's over! Bergegories (Berger Points) All Bergegories are rankes 1-5; 5 is the Berger Best! (Now I check the blog and see that it had been a 5 month wait before that.) We decided that if we can't meet every 2 months then we're Berger losers! Naughty - sometimes, a loser - NEVER! Half of this Berger clan favors Minneapolis and the other half favors St. Paul. When I heard the name of the Berger joint selected by the St. Paul clan, I thought they had converted and I was going to discover a new area in Minneapolis; I knew of Uptown and Midtown, but where was Lowertown?! It was a warm summer Friday night 7pm. The Minneapolis clan found free street parking. The St. Paul clan paid for parking - very interesting. The Bulldog Lowertown was spacious with high top and booth seating. As the Minneapolis clan bothered the server to move 2 high tops together the St. Paul clan spotted us from their hidden booth. The Bulldog Lowertown is a little to big to have that cozy, greasy bar feeling. We scuttled to the booth and were instantly impressed by the beer menu. They have over 100 beer choices and if you can't decide they offer flights! The burgers were really good with flavor and juice. The fries were good too - they were fried to a warm brown color almost like there was a thin skin on the fries. The service was, well - bull dogish. The servers were cute and you knew they were really nice but we perceived a sense of impatience, that we were the last thing that our server wanted to think about. It basically just ads more flavor for the conversation so the Service Bergegory caught a break from me and received an average score.
